FITNESS CLASSES
HOW TO JOIN?
All fitness classes operate as a $5 drop-in for each class. You do not need to be a member of the Community Center to participate in the fitness classes.
SILVER SNEAKERS?
If you are a Silver Sneakers member at the Community Center, you are eligible for 1 FREE fitness class per week. Any additional classes will be a $5 drop in. Please check in at the front desk prior to class.
ARE YOU NEW?
If you have never been to the Community Center before we have a short, one-time, info/waiver form for you to complete when you arrive so we can create an account for you, but after that you will just pay the $5 upon arrival and you're good to go!
MEET THE INSTRUCTORS...
JAMI KOK
Jami has 30+ years of experience as a wellness professional. She loves people and is passionate about health and wholeness. Jami desires to see her students and clients whole in mind, body, soul, and spirit. She is a coach and cheerleader at heart.
Jami has a BS Degree from Grand Valley State University in Physical Education with an emphasis in Corporate Wellness. She is certified in Group Fitness, Yoga, GROOVE®, and Indoor Cycling. She also has specialized training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Yoga with Weights, Pilates, and Lifestyle Wellness Coaching.
Jami is married and has two boys/young men and two dogs. In addition to her love for teaching yoga and fitness classes, she enjoys being with her family, traveling, camping, hiking, mountain biking, going to Detroit Lions' games, and snuggling with her dogs.
TAMMY ALLAN
Tammy has been a Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) for over seven years via ACE. She is certified in WERQ, Cardio Dance Fitness, UrbanKick, HIIT, Kickboxing, and YogaFit Level 1 yoga. Tammy currently teaches Tabata, a HIIT class, WERQ and Cardio Sculpt (cardio & strength class) at the Byron Center Rec and she is also a part time sub for the YMCA for various classes.
Tammy loves teaching fitness classes because of the amazing and wonderful people she gets to meet! She also loves seeing people’s lives change and transform via fitness – showing that each little step can have a big impact on their lives.
Tammy lives in Byron Center with her family – her husband David, son Allister (14), and daughter, Isla (12). Both of her kids play travel soccer and Allister is also a freshman on the BCHS varsity soccer team.
DARCEY BEKINS
Darcey has 20+ years of experience in the boxing/physical fitness industry. She loves coaching boxing, circuit workouts, and kids fitness workshops! Darcey is passionate about fitness and loves to see her students thrive.
Darcey has her Physical Fitness certificate. She currently teaches at TRV Fitness and she will teach Boxing at the Byron Center Rec. Boxing can be intimidating, but Darcey is very welcoming to new faces. Boxing is a great way to burn calories - let's have some fun and knock out your stress!
Darcey lives in Grandville with her family - her husband Brian and youngest son Max. Her oldest son Carson and wife Ashlyn got married in June 2024 and now live in Shelbyville. If you recognize Darcey, it's because she also works at the front desk!
AIMEE DEHOLLANDER
Aimee lives in Byron Center with her husband and three boys, who are all in college. They're an active family that enjoys hiking, trail riding, camping, disc golf, and playing pickleball together. Aimee has 30+ years of experience and has taught a variety of children's and adult fitness classes.
As a certified group fitness instructor, her passion extends beyond physical fitness; she also focus on social and mental well-being. Participants in all her classes enjoy a fun, friendly atmosphere, and quickly become like family. The current classes that Aimee absolutely loves teaching are BOOM Move, Silver Fitness, and Gentle Stretch, and everyone is welcome! It can be a bit intimidating to start a new class by yourself, but give Aimee's classes a try, and you'll leave with new friends!
